Hi there
I'd like to mention for the more Urban Beats amateurs the work of Combination Records, that I've discovered today, thanks to Rugged Magazine (issue n°02)... and especially DDPNP...
Why ?
Because you surely know Berliners Oliver Bondzio and Ramon Zenker under the pseudonyme HardfloOr that they brought to international stardom in techno music with their unique acid-style 303 beats.... The website tells that "the kids in Japan bring their 303 to Hardfloor concerts to have them autogrammed by their button spinning heroes"..
(LOL )
As Dadamnphreaknoizphunk they show their mellow side with laid-back beats.. after the release of the album "TAKE OFF DA HOT SWEATER" and a few Eps (I'm hearing complete track samples -40 Kps- on the website), in June 2003 came "LOST AND FOUND". With this one, the Düsseldorf based label makes hard to find tracks and classics out of print from the down-tempo producers available once more....
I have some of these tracks already on the Best Of HardfloOr record (1997-98) if I remember well... and "Lost and Found" also features for exemple "Ain't Nuttin' But a Format Thing" that was featured on RIP-Matsuri's amazing "Sympathy In Chaos" (volume 02 I think)...
And their work will always remain something special in my mind as they were some of the firsts broken beats records I've enjoyed so much when I was discovering Electronic Dance Music (the one and only album "STRIKEOUT")..
About "Take Off Da Hot Sweater", the samples I'm currently listening just sound fantastic... no words. To help me, the website promo text deals with "heavy, deep hiphop riddims (that) meet electroid sounds. Dubby dope beats are given a partly technoid arrangement. A whole club night with nothing but highlights on one single sofa evening. Dadamnphreaknoizphunk rock your couch muscles, train your head bobbing."
What can I add ??
Ehmm give it a try !
