The Rainbow Serpent Music, Arts and Lifestyle Festival returns to country Victoria over Australia Day long weekend, 27th – 30th January 2006. Internationally recognized as one of Australia’s most spectacular outdoor events, the festival is an extravaganza of music, arts, healing and camping over four days, attracting 5000+ people. The Festival is a place where the often isolated and stressful aspects of twenty-first century living can be freed in a community of dance, love and partying!
Local and international visitors are welcome to the Rainbow Serpent Music, Arts & Lifestyle Festival, inspired by the Dreamtime creation story told by the traditional owners of the land. In the Dreamtime, the world was flat, bare and cold. The Rainbow Serpent slept under the ground with all the animal tribes in her belly waiting to be born. When it was time, she pushed up, calling out to the animals to come from their sleep. She threw the land out, making mountains and hills and spilling water over the land, making rivers and lakes. She made the sun, fire and all the colours. The Rainbow Serpent is the protector of the land, and the source of all life.
International acts scheduled for 2006 include :
Son Kite & Minilogue (Live, Sweden)
Bamboo Forest (Live, France)
Panick (Live, Israel)
Frank Beckers (Plastic Park, Germany)
Edoardo (Neurobiotic, Italy)
Peter Didjital (Digital Structures, Sweden)…
and many more local and Australian artists still to be announced!
A constantly evolving aspect of the Festival is the Village of Light, where holistic activities designed to expand the mind, awaken the spirit and heal the soul occur. A place for the wellbeing of children and adults alike, highlights in 2006 include children’s workshops, art therapy, circus workshops, yoga, meditation and a healing oasis where practitioners of all disciplines will share their skills.
